Winter Trainer Jam-O-Rama Planning continues for the Winter Jam-O-Rama Trainer Retreat! “Save the Date” announcements went out to PITC, OUNCE, ETL, Surge and NBC trainers. Everyone is urged to put March 28 and 29 on their calendars for a fun and information-packed Friday evening and Saturday. A pizza and pajama party with Sue Baldwin as our special guest presenter kicks-off the event. We’ll have spa and relaxation activities, music, games and time to catch up with fellow trainers. Saturday will include: breakfast, trainer meetings for each group, sessions including “PLAT & Learning Objectives”, an introduction to “Access for All”, a new guide for training in diverse cultural communities and lunch. And remember, for the trainer groups listed above the cost of this event is ZERO dollars! Priceless! An invitation to this special event, along with a registration form is enclosed as an attachment to this e-mail. If you have registration questions, please contact Tina at 651-290-9704, ext. 105 or e-mail tinal@mnchildcare.org. Trainers Needed Parent Aware: Minnesota’s Quality Rating System, is reaching out to trainers! As child care providers begin to review their Environment Rating Scale scores and set goals for quality improvement, many may need to include training and/or consultation in their action plans. Parent Aware program staff will be compiling a list of trainers and consultants to make available to providers who will then contact trainers/consultants directly to make arrangements. Trainers’ names will rotate regularly on the list in order to give everyone a chance to be at the top of the list. Trainers with expertise in the following areas are especially needed: Family Partnerships: Assisting providers with developing intake interviews, newsletters, parent communication strategies, resource areas etc. Curriculum and Instruction: Targeted assistance designed to improve ERS or CLASS scores, training on the use of a formal curriculum, staff training on specific curricula. Charting Child Progress: Training/coaching on use of assessment tools, staff training on specific tools. Professional Development: Trainings on a broad range of topics that are 8 hours or more in length, career counseling for staff, portfolio development etc. You can learn more about Parent Aware by visiting the Web site: www.parentawareratings.org . Partricipating trainers will not be employed by Parent Aware or the Network, and offers to train are not guaranteed. Trainers will need to market their services to providers in the Parent Aware pilot areas. Interested trainers can complete an application. To receive the application, contact Gail Mahr, gailm@mnchildcare.org, 651 290-9704 ext 200
