Minnesota Child Care Workforce Steps Up
to Help Deployed Army and
National Guard/Reserve families
Child care issues are a pressing problem for Army and National Guard Reserve Families. Your local Child Care Resource & Referral agency is recruiting child care providers to assist families. See how T.E.A.C.H. recipients are helping.
“I find this program vital for supporting Military families. I never thought there was much I could do to help these families affected by military service. My child care mom who is single parenting right now due to deployment, personally thanks me every time I have ever volunteered, often with her eyes welling up because she knows what that can mean for families. No matter what your thoughts on the military actions are, there are families being separated so we can have freedoms that a lot of people around the world know nothing about. So I am glad to do what I can for my military families. ”
-Nichol Bergen
Licensed Family Child Care Provider
The Minnesota Child Care Resource and Referral Network is proud to be partnering with the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRA) and the U.S. Army to support families of Minnesota's deployed Army National Guard and Reserve.
Child care providers can help by:
- Offering full-time or occasional child care services for compensation.
- Offering volunteer child care services at military family support events.
There are several T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship recipients participating in this project. We would like to thank Sharyl Kalal, Nichol Bergen, Lorena Carter , Katherine Ahoe , and all the other programs and licensed family child care providers involved in Child Care Services for Army Families.
