Service Development Grants
Who can apply?
- Licensed child care centers (Rule 3);legally exempt school-based school-age care programs;
family child care associations; public schools; public agencies (city/county);
Head Start programs; education institutions; employer-based or church-based Rule 2 programs;
and corporations or public agencies that develop child care services.
What can I apply for?
- Facility Improvement; Start-up/Expansion/interim financing;and staff training and development.
- Grants are NOT available to cover general operating expenses of a child care program; however, a
program may apply for start-up funds to assist them with the costs of interim financing.
How much can I apply for?
- Each local proposal review committee will set the maximum award dependent on local funding. However, the
minimum award must be AT LEAST $5,000.Keep in mind that Service Development Grants require a
25% match. The match should be 25% of the grant request. The match request can be made in several ways. It can be cash or in-kind.
How do I apply?
- The Department of Human Services requires regional distribution of the Child Care Service Development
Grant Request For Proposal (RFP) or information about the availability of the RFP, to the following groups/organizations: Rule 3 Child
Care Centers; Legally Exempt School-Age Care Providers; Family Child Care Associations; Technical/Community Colleges; Tribal
Councils; Family Service Collaboratives; ECFE programs; Crisis Nurseries; Organizations Serving Communities of Color; Neighborhood
Groups/Organizations; Individuals/Organizations Requesting Information on Child Care Grants; Public and Private Schools; Corporations
or Public Agencies that Develop Child Care Services; County Social Service Agencies; Employer/Church-Based Rule 2 Programs; and any
other community or early childhood organizations who the CCR&R agency feels may be interested in receiving the materials.
