Searching for Child Care During the Flu Season
Parents and child care providers are working to keep children healthy this flu season. Discuss these healthy care, healthy kids guidelines with child care providers whose services you are considering.
- Do adults and children wash their hands often and well (after using the bathroom, changing diapers, eating etc.)?
- Are diaper changing surfaces cleaned and disinfected after each use?
- Are toys and play areas disinfected regularly?
- Do all of the children enrolled have the required immunizations?
- Is there a plan to follow if a child is sick? Will children with fevers be sent home and will they be asked to stay home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours?
- Is there a plan for communicating closures with parents should the child care provider become ill?
